Creating your Custom Menu

Navigate yourself to Appearance -> Menus (1)

If you don't have a Custom Menu yet, create one by clicking on the + button as noted in the screenshot

After you have your own Custom Menu (call it whatever name you want), you need to assign it to the Theme Locations -> Navigation (2)

Now you should be able to add your Menu Items from the left side of your screen. Use the "Add to Menu" buttons.

Please note that this theme does not support Sub Menus (dropdown), we do not anticipate that much content in this One Page theme.

Finally, Save Changes (4)

See the Result

As you can see, the default menu has been replaced with your Custom Menu. If you would like to merge the default menu into your Custom Menu then you would need to add a "Custom Links" Menu Items and link them in a similar way like this:

http://yoursite.com/wpinstallation#header
http://yoursite.com/wpinstallation#works
http://yoursite.com/wpinstallation#services
http://yoursite.com/wpinstallation#members
http://yoursite.com/wpinstallation#contact
etc...

Just a final note

If you happen to have a lot of Menu Items, we have created a subtle rule, let me explain. If you add a lot of Menu Items to your Custom Menu then the design of the desktop Menu would break into many lines (coders will understand why). So we have decided that it would be better to just show the Mobile Menu design which can accompany much more Menu Items, simple as that.

Example

This is how your Custom Menu will look if you add too many Menu Items.

Before you start

It is important that you create a parent category for all your blog categories. In the above screenshot we have a parent category called "Uncategorized" and several sub-categories under it. Please replicate a similar structure before doing the next steps in this lesson.

Enable Blog and select your main Blog category from the previous step

Open Theme Options panel (1) and select Blog (2) from the left menu. Then make sure the "Show Blog" is checked. Under it there is a selectbox where you need to select the main/parent category you have created in the first step of this lesson.

Create your first Blog Post

Click on the "Add New" button (2) and fill in the Title (3) and Content (4) of your new Blog Post. Then assign it to some category (5) and Publish it (6)

See the Result

Open your website and click on the Blog link (1)

See the Result

As you can see, your first Blog Post has been published, congrats!

Navigate yourself to the Portfolio section in wp-admin and click on the Add New button (1)

Fill in all the information about your new Portfolio Item like Title, Content, Featured Image, Tag(s), and some extra General Settings

Portfolio Sorting is done using tags. For each category in your portfolio for example "webdesign" you need to add that tag to that item (=post). In the example above we have added our Item called "Example 1" into these tags "Javascript Project" and "User Interface"

See the Result - Home Page

As you can see, we have added a portfolio item. Note how we created the Sortable Portfolio categories using tags.

See the Result - Portfolio Single View (after clicking on the Portfolio Item)

(1) Tags
(2) Date, customizable in General Settings in the post edit screen
(3) Link, customizable in General Settings in the post edit screen
(4) Title and Content of your Portfolio Item
(5) Featured Image is the first image in this slider. If you want more images, you need to upload the using the "Upload/Insert" button next to a Title field in the post edit screen. Just upload them and they will get automatically attached to this post and selected. Please do not click the "Insert image into post", that would cause duplicates.

Open some Portfolio Post

Open a Portfolio Post. If you dont have one, please follow this tutorial to create it first: http://docs.freshface.net/s/documentation/m/8540/l/88375-creating-sortable-portfolio

Click on the "Upload/Insert" button (1)

Upload your Images

Now upload more images, as many as you like. Do NOT click the "add image into post" button, that would cause duplicates. Just upload and close the window, the theme will take care of the rest.
